Disconnect the sway bar links by removing the lower nut, and if necessary, the upper nut if the strut is being removed. Detach both sway bar bushing retainers from the subframe, noting that on 2016 and later Lexus models, the right rear exhaust manifold must be removed for sway bar access. While the sway bar is detached, inspect the retainer bushings for cracks or wear and replace them if needed. Check the sway bar link by flipping the ball joint stud side-to-side and measuring the torque reading after tightening the nut. Clean the bushing area of the sway bar with a wire brush, then lubricate the new bushings with vegetable oil, ensuring the slits face the rear of the vehicle during installation. Finally, install the links and tighten the link nuts and retainers to the specified torque.
