Lexus RX350 Steering Wheel Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How do you remove and install the steering wheel on Lexus RX350?
A: For steering wheel, the wheels have to be straighten then turn off the ignition and then unplug the connection with the negative terminal of the battery. Third remove the small covers that are located on each side of the steering wheel and then slacken the Torx screws that are holding the airbag module to the steering wheel until they adjust to the screw case. Take out the airbag module and remove the electrical connection of the airbag module also. Depress the nut of the steering wheel, then place the pin and mark where the shaft is situated for repositioning in the hub. As earlier said, do not hammer on the steering shaft but use a puller to remove the steering wheel from the shaft. If required, disconnect the spiral cable by undoing the bonnet of the steering column, eradicating the electrical connection and revolving the claws. For installation: the front wheel of the chair should be aligned; rotate the spire cable in the anti clockwise direction until you find it tight then turn it in the clockwise direction until the pointers meet at the middle of the two and a half turns point. The marks that are located on the steering wheel hub should overlap with the mark on the steering shaft, the wheel should then be slid on to the shaft, and the nut should be tightened in order to the required torque. If you plug in the airbag module electrical connectors and make sure that their connecter lock are properly engaged it is ok. Last, fit the airbag part where it fits and tighten the Torx retaining screws and join the negative cable of the battery.
